Choosing the Ideal Persian Kitten

Persian cats are valued for their intelligence and beauty. For these reasons alone, many cat owners seek out the perfect Persian cat to complement their household. Here are some tips on what to look out for in an ideal Persian kitten.
Persian kittens should be at least 14 weeks old before they are allowed to leave the breeder and head for their new homes. Any earlier than that and you should be cautious of the breeder you are in contact with. In terms of size, it is wise to bring home a Persian kitten that weighs one pound per month of its age. This means that a good sized kitten that is 4 months old should ideally be approximately 4 pounds.
When bringing home your Persian kitten for the first time, observe its eating habits. If it does not eat a lot due to nervousness, give it time and slowly introduce its food again. It is important to clean the area under its eyes with a dry cotton wool or soft cloth. Be mindful of any discharge that may be present around its eyes. Clear discharge is okay but if it gets too runny, do get in touch with your vet as soon as possible. A Persian kitten’s coat should be soft to the touch without any knots in it. If you have any questions or concerns about your new kitten, contact the registered Persian breeder you bought it from.
