Holistic Pet Food and Supplementation

February 13, 2009 by

I am a huge advocate for natural remedies, natural healing, homeopathy and so on. With so many man-made chemicals in pretty much everything we injest, even water, it’s important for me (and my cats) to eat only healthy, organic food – where possible. And I have to say that because of this, my cats have been incredibly healthy with no serious issues to go to the vet with.

But as you know, some cats are just pre-disposed to certain illnesses. Just as some breeds of cats (and dogs) are prone to certain health issues. You can help with this by feeding a healthy, organic diet and by adding an extra boost to the immune system via supplementation. This is such an easy, and I feel imperative, step for prevention. However, sometimes the worst happens despite our best efforts.

I’ve lost one beloved furry friend to cat cancer. Tashja only lived to 10 years of age. And she was a big reason on why I started questioning the food she was eating and the treatments she was given. She passed on despite the “best efforts” of veterinary medicine available. And I often wonder if I could have been blessed with her presence a lot longer had she been on a proper healthy diet with the right kinds of immunity support.

Rather than beat myself up over the loss of my beloved cat. I now pro-actively advocate holistic pet food and supplementation to ensure your pets are getting the proper nutrition in their diets. Feeding this way ensures a glorious healthy coat, can alleviate (or even eliminate) pet allergies, and of course lends incredible vitality and quality of life for your pets!

What is holistic pet food? Ask at your local pet store, not the big corporation types, but the smaller friendly kind of pet stores. Look for brands like Wellness, Wysong, Merricks, and others. A higher quality of pet food is a must for the longevity and happienss of your pets. Just remember, that in the long run, your vet bills will be less!
