Mars Pet Care is recalling bags of Pedigree Complete Nutrition Small Crunchy Bites dog food.
A salmonella scare has forced Mars Petcare US to recall 100 of its 20-pound bags of PEDIGREE Complete Nutrition Small Crunchy Bites sold at some Albertsons in Southern California and Las Vegas, Nevada.
The company also makes Nutro pet food, which scores of consumers nationwide blame for the recent illnesses - and even deaths - of their dog and cats.
Nutro products, however, are not included in this recall.
Repurrifying the Index

I love coining words lol but I think this one is relevant. I’m revamping the way this site works. Cattery Index will now be run like a magazine. Send me your articles! You can still log in and post your own cattery updates, with pictures and links. But now I’ll be adding more interesting posts, articles and social media items on a regular basis.
If you’re interested in participating on a regular basis, I’d love to know. Not a paying job, but I am a bit of a guru at Search Engine Optimazation. Your perks would help you monetize and advertise your cattery websites by picking my brain.
I can help you deconfoozle the mass amount of information (and sometimes, misinformation) about marketing your site online. A few tips and tricks of the trade
But in the meantime, I’ll be working on the site and the new site forums. So excuse the clutter for the next day or so.
Site Updates

I’ve been busy this weekend updating the site with wordpress plugins and a new design. I hope you like it!
I’ve also updated the FAQs page to better explain how to register, log in and use this site. Not everyone has used a Wordpress blog before. It’s really user friendly, but you still need to know where to look!
Make sure to tell your friends that they can list their catteries and cattery news at Cattery Index for free!
Come back soon to read the first of many tutorials on how to start and maintain your own cattery wordpress blog. And how to find decent blog designs to use on it!
Other tutorials will include how to get your cattery website ranked better on the search engines and even monetize your cattery website without distasteful advertising. It’s what I do for a living, after all. Search engine optimization!
Now Accepting New Registrations
November 11, 2007 by Shannon · Leave a Comment
You can now go ahead and register for your free account on Cattery Index under the new format.
ALL new users are automatically accepted as “contributors” to the site. This means you can start your own posts, but that those posts will need to be monitored and approved before going live.
So for now, please only submit cattery listings. I am still adding back categories for cat related products and services. And have yet to resubmit the hundreds of other very helpful links I had on the old database. You’ll find those back up under the links section soon enough.
But as for cattery listings, I intend to see those as posts made to the breed category you belong to. Submit as many new updates as you like but let’s keep frequent postings as additions to your previous posts. In other words, edit a post to add your new stuff if you intend to update more than once a week. Otherwise, go ahead and make new posts. The whole idea here is to keep things fresh and new, right? Right!
*please note* You can certainly add pictures to your posts, but please keep them NO larger than 400×400 pixels. If you don’t know how to shrink your images, contact me for help. I’ll soon write a tutorial on how to shrink your file sizes for uploading and including on web pages.
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions please send them via the contact form.
For now, I think I’m done for the day, did a lot of work when I should be resting! Rotten flu
Catastrophic Changes, Again
November 11, 2007 by Shannon · Leave a Comment
Yes, as you can tell, I’ve gone and changed the site format. Again.
The short explanation is that I’m only one person managing this ever growing directory of cat breeder related links. And I can’t be here 24/7 and have a job away from the computer. So, I decided to change Cattery Index to 100% user submitted content, aka a “Blog” format.
Once I get the categories set back up, you can register for free and post your cattery information for free. Then updated it whenever you like. Post news about your cattery whenever you like. All moderated of course, to prevent spammers.
So please, please bear with me. I have all of the old site’s data to re-add and convert in this new format.
If you are here for the first time, let me tell you about Cattery Index and its purpose:
1. To keep an accurate, up-to-date, listing of reputable registered catteries world wide.
2. To provide cat breeders an affordable, easy to use, resource to advertise their cats and find cat related products and services. What Cattery Index is NOT:
1. A way to promote unregistered, unpedigreed or experimental (designer) cats.
2. A political forum for he said/she said or pointing of fingers by cat breeders or about cat breeders in the cat fancy/cat show world.
If you would like to share some of your spare time helping to manage submissions to Cattery Index (approve or disapprove posts, monitor comments), please contact me with your email information and experience with Content Management Systems, WordPress or even just basic html knowledge (making web pages).
This would be on a volunteer basis only. Though you are welcome to pick my brain and take advantage of 10+ year’s of experience in Search Engine Marketing and Optimization, web design and graphics.
