Holiday Pet Gift Ideas - Custom t-shirts!

November 22, 2008 by Shannon · Leave a Comment

It’s getting that time of year again. What to buy the pets this year!? Gone are the days of $100 pet collars, pet lover consumers say even with the questionable economy, they won’t be penny pinching for their pets! And don’t I know it. I worked at a pet food store a few years ago and was amazed at how much money folks spend on their pets. I felt less guilty myself!

This year, consider a custom made pet t-shirt! For fun or for warmth on cold winter walks, you can create your own (cat or) dog t-shirt and put your furry friend in fashionable pet apparel! Remember those fun “I’m with Stupid” type of t-shirts we used to wear? Now you can make one for your pet! Use your silly pet name for your dog or cat and be creative! “I’m with the HuMan” or “Smile, she feeds me!” is worth more than a chuckle when you are walking your dog. I bet it would strike up some interesting conversations!

Or if your cheeky feline has jumped up on the kitchen counter one too many times, put him in a customized “I’m a BAD kitty” t-shirt to let him know you aren’t amused. Perhaps your friend’s cat is a bit like Garfield and loves his yummies a bit too much. Create a “Built for comfort, not speed!” t-shirt and gift it for your friend’s cat at Christmas.

I bet you can think of lots of fun (and funny!) ways to create custom t-shirts for your holiday furry friends! Be different and get a unique pet gift!

What?

Are you a registered cat breeder who would love some free exposure for your cattery website? Submit a 200-400 word blurb about your breed, or even how you got started with your breed, to Cattery Index and include a link to your own website or blog.

Why?

It’s a quick and easy way to get a free link back to your site. Did you say FREE? Absolutely! Even better, Cattery Index is an authority PR3 site for cat breeders. We rank for “Cat Breeder” and “Cat Breeder Directory” in the Google search engine. Having your cattery website link on Cattery Index *will* increase your own page rank as well as help your site rank higher in the search engines.

How?

So for a few minutes of your time, you can write a short blurb about your breed, get a free back link to your site, and contribute helpful content to Cattery Index. Include one or two pictures of your choice! (225×225 max size)

When?

Now of course! All you need to do is sign up (or sign in if you are already a member - it’s free), make a new post and submit it. After I get notice via email of your post waiting to be published, I’ll make it live! Usually a few hours or by the end of the day.

And don’t forget to sign up on the Cat Breeder Directory section of the site. Submit your cattery listing for free or sponsor a category for a featured listing.

Choosing the Ideal Persian Kitten

November 22, 2008 by Shannon · Leave a Comment

Persian cats are valued for their intelligence and beauty. For these reasons alone, many cat owners seek out the perfect Persian cat to complement their household. Here are some tips on what to look out for in an ideal Persian kitten.

Persian kittens should be at least 14 weeks old before they are allowed to leave the breeder and head for their new homes. Any earlier than that and you should be cautious of the breeder you are in contact with. In terms of size, it is wise to bring home a Persian kitten that weighs one pound per month of its age. This means that a good sized kitten that is 4 months old should ideally be approximately 4 pounds.

When bringing home your Persian kitten for the first time, observe its eating habits. If it does not eat a lot due to nervousness, give it time and slowly introduce its food again. It is important to clean the area under its eyes with a dry cotton wool or soft cloth. Be mindful of any discharge that may be present around its eyes. Clear discharge is okay but if it gets too runny, do get in touch with your vet as soon as possible. A Persian kitten’s coat should be soft to the touch without any knots in it. If you have any questions or concerns about your new kitten, contact the registered Persian breeder you bought it from.

Why Manx Cats Make Good Pets

November 22, 2008 by Shannon · 1 Comment

There is a myth surrounding dog owners and that is most people who have kept dogs refused to get a cat because they firmly believe a dog is truly “man’s best friend”. However, many pet owners who kept both dogs and cats in their household will attest to the fact that, there is one breed of cat that made them veer away from that particular myth. And that cat is the Manx cat.

Oddly enough, Manx cats behave pretty much like our canine companions do. So it is not unusual that dog owners immediately fall in love with them at first glance. Believe it or not, Manx cats can be taught nifty tricks. Imagine being able to teach them how to fetch items at a whim or beckon them simply by calling their name. Many Manx cat owners love the experience of training them because the Manx is so eager to please. They can even sense instances when they are reprimanded, and understand the word “no” enough to keep them from committing repeated mischief.

While a Manx cat can be taught to be obedient, it is in no way a staid cat. A Manx cat does not personify the average cat that is unfriendly or unsociable. On the contrary, a Manx cat loves interacting regularly with both humans and animals alike. Bring home a Manx cat today and you’ll see I’m telling the truth!
