What to Consider When Buying a Purebred Cat
Just like with any other kind of animal there are many different types and breeds of cats and kittens. When deciding to get a cat or kitten there can be many things to consider. The different breeds of cats can determine the way they act with people, children, and other animals. Another thing to consider the personality of the breed – active or docile, chatty or quiet?
When choosing to buy a purebred cat or kitten it is not recommended that you by from a pet store or unregistered breeder; this is due to the fact that you may not receive papers and do not know much about the cats bloodline or background. Unregistered cat breeders do not know enough about their cats to be able to ensure their health. Unethical breeders don’t care what cat is breed to another – and this can cause often fatal health issues that would devastate your family with the loss of your cat much too early in its life. Human Foods Toxic to Pets
Dr Andrew, of The Internet Pet Vet, wrote a post today on common human foods toxic to pets. It’s a great resource that I thought was very worth while sharing.

- chocolate
- coffee
- onions
Please do read his post on Foods Hazardous to your Pets.

Solving Cat Health Problems Naturally
Have cats always been sickly? Are they just delicate creatures that succumb to every infectious assault in their environments?
If that were so, how then have they survived for millions of years in the wild before we came along and made them our pets? How did they ever live without rabies vaccinations, distemper shots, annual veterinary visits, and dry kibble pet food made from the lowest quality corn meal and other questionable ingredients?
They aren’t on the protected species list, of course, but overall, the health of the average cat is nothing like the robust nature of the natural cat health care throughout the time they have been on the planet. We humans have not been good for their health. What we do for them now is in the interest of our own convenience, not their well being. Read the story »
How to Better Understand Your Pet Cat
Cats have been around since the beginning of recorded history. In some early cultures they were idolized and in some they were feared. In medieval times they believed cats were godlike due to the way their eyes glowed at night.
Cats will communicate with their owners in many different ways. They purr when they are happy and content. They meow loudly when they are hungry. When a cat is not happy or on the defense they will give a low pitched growl or a hiss. Cats can communicate other ways besides verbally. They use body language, posture and ear and tail movements to communicate their feelings or emotions. When a cat feels challenged they will flick their tail starting at the tip and whip it around so it becomes more pronounced. The front of their body is flat to the ground and their hind end is higher. They mean business if they are in this stance and their ears are plastered back. Read the story »
